Blur Uses One-Time Use Credit Card Numbers to Deter Hackers

This week I read an article about a company called Blur. They came up with an idea about making "fake" credit cards to protect your personal credit card information while you are shopping from potential hackers. Blur generated a browser extension that when you make an online purchase a notification will pop up that says "Protect My Card". With this the company will create a fake card number, and expiration date for a one time use, it can be used in stores anywhere and you enter the credit card information to the cashier and the transaction will be complete. This prevents hackers from getting the information they would normally find from your credit cards, but with blur they do not have the ability to steal your personal information because after the numbers are used they are unable to be used again. I find this very interesting, and I think this can become a very useful tool in the future for preventing hackers from taking people's credit card numbers, and personal information.

  1. This a great invention because sometimes we can all be careless during shopping and may drop our card or forget our card so this a great invention especially for college students .

  2. This is a very useful concept because credit card fraud is a very common thing. Now hackers will have to find a new way to do their dirty work.
